Pollatir’s Cookie Policy
This page lists every cookie our website can set, what each one does, and how long it lasts. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains everything else we do with personal data.
This site sets no cookies unless you accept analytics. The only item stored without your consent is the record of your answer.
What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on a later request — to keep you signed in, to remember a preference, or to count you as one visitor rather than several.
We also use your browser’s local storage for a single purpose. It is not technically a cookie, but it performs the same function, so we list it here alongside the rest.
Strictly Necessary
One item is stored without consent: the record of your cookie choice. It is not used to track you across sites and it is not used for advertising. Under ePrivacy rules, storage strictly necessary to deliver a service you requested does not require consent, and this includes recording a consent decision.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
pollatir-consent(local storage, not a cookie) | Pollatir | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so the banner asks once (every 12 months) | 12 months, then we ask again |
Analytics — Only With Your Consent
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people find useful. It is switched off by default. We run Google Consent Mode v2 with analytics_storage set to denied until you press Accept in our banner — until then, the cookies below are never written.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Assigns a random identifier so repeat visits count as one visitor | 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Holds session state for the specific Analytics property | 2 years |
Advertising and personalisation storage stay denied at all times. We do not run advertising on this site, we do not build profiles, and we do not share analytics data with advertising networks. The site carries no third-party embeds — no video players, maps, or chat widgets — so nothing else can set a cookie while you read.
Google Ireland Limited processes this data on our behalf, which involves transfer to servers outside the EEA under the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy.
Changing Your Mind
You can change your choice at any time through . That clears the choice we stored and brings the banner back so you can decide again. Declining switches analytics off immediately.
Refusing is as easy as accepting, and nothing about the site changes if you refuse. You can also close the banner without answering — we store nothing, analytics stays off, and we’ll ask again another time. We don’t treat continued browsing as agreement, and browser settings alone are not how we obtain consent.
Your answer lapses after 12 months. When it does, the banner returns and you decide again — consent you gave a year ago shouldn’t bind you indefinitely.
If you decline after previously accepting, we don’t just stop collecting — we delete the analytics cookies already in your browser at that moment.
You can also delete cookies already stored, or block them entirely, through your browser’s own settings. Every major browser offers this under privacy or site data.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies is possible through your browser, but parts of the site may stop working correctly if you do.
Changes to This Policy
If we add or remove a cookie, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change means we need your consent for something new, we’ll ask before it takes effect.
